A couple months ago, I had the pleasure of Art Directing a lovely project for MTV. Say what you will about Viacom, but MTV has been a very very good company to me for the past 7 years. This particular project was sort of like a focus group aimed at the other female audiences; the ones who don't spray tan, the ones who are confused about their sexuality, the ones who grew up as victims of abuse or eating disorders, the ones who aren't popular in school. I think its smart of MTV to reach out to this side of the audience especially since bullying and suicide are on the continuous rise. Its good to provide an outlet for anyone/everyone and cater in a way that they can immediately relate.
Anyways, we created five or six very intimate settings for these interview with a selected group of girls who each fit into a category. Based on their stories, we created environments that describe pivotal moments in their lives. Here are a few images I was able to snap:
Finally, here is our wall of quotes from our girls. They were given away to all the guests for their refrigerators and other magnetic surfaces.
